red is (+) while black is (-) that is the general rule which is true. however for motorolas and other devices. u need to trip the charge from a neutral source, figure it out.

Motorola uses the pin between Pin #3 (green) and #4(black) (Pin X) to sense what device is attached to the mini-USB port. Shorting Pin #3(green) to #2(white) and #X (black) causes the phone to go into handsfree/carkit mode and the LCD backlight will ignore timeout settings and stay on.
Shorting pin X (aluminum foil) to pin 2(white) and to pin 4(black) via R=200KOhm causes the phone to go into charge mode.

if i did a mistake on the color coordination, please do it vice versa or better yet correct me if i'm wrong.

Hey Newt,

I notice the error

---------------------------
makeavi.exe - Unable To Locate Component
---------------------------
This application has failed to start because MFC71D.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

When trying to load, I read that MFC71D.DLL errors are related when a program is compiled in dev mode? I don't have VS would you be able to release a compiled version that doesn't require this DLL? I don't feel safe downloading DLLs from those DLL sites...

Hope you can help!
