I knew about the symbiotic relationship between ants and aphids before. I had seen it on a few nature shows.I was surprised that I could actually witness this myself outside my front door.
I noticed we had some infestation on a plant near our front door, so I had a closer look. I then grabbed my digital camera and took a few photos. They turned out much better than I anticipated!
I may go to the nursery to buy some lady bugs. Apparently you can buy them to get rid of aphids in an environmentally friendy way. I like lady bugs, so this is perfect.

good idea except that the ants will protect their aphids and kill the ladybugs

some weeks ago, in my garden i saw some white larva type aphids on the apical branches of horse shoe plant .there were some 4 or 5 ants on each branch too.and they were protecting these insects. at first we thought they must be the ants own larvae but they were not. because after a few days these white insects feel from the plant and started reproducing.meanwhile they turned all our beautiful horse shoe plant into just some bare branches with no leaves or flowers.it seemed quite strange.

why didn’t you get rid of the ants in the first place they could’ve been doing something bad.
(p.s)I hate ants so i get rid of any I see.
